Why did Hi-Wire Brewing launch Old North Premium Lager?
We at Hi-Wire are passionate about lagers, and Old North is a way for us to double down on this. This brand is who we are: light-hearted, approachable, an embodiment of who we are as a company, and fiercely loyal to the place we live and work: the Old North State. The MillerCoors brewery in Eden, NC closed in 2017, and we realized there was no longer an approachable, well-priced, Premium Lager being brewed on a large scale in North Carolina. We want to fill this hole.
Where did the name come from?
The Old North State is a nickname for North Carolina as well as the title of the state song and state toast. The moniker dates back to 1710, when the Carolina colony was effectively divided into two colonies, South Carolina and the earlier-settled North Carolina. Old North is meant to embody the spirit of North Carolina. Everyone who lives in North Carolina from all walks of life can relate to the beautiful state we call home, the Old North State.
